Which Abdominal Exercise Will Create Sculpted Abs?
If you want to lose some extra pounds around your middle, you may want to do an abdominal exercise to get the look you want. Don't concentrate on doing them too much, however, as it is more complicated that just doing an exercise. In order to get rid of excess on your belly, you need more than crunches. You need to watch your diet and cut calories.
Most people think they can do an abdominal exercise and tone their stomach. This statement is only half true. You must also cut calories or you are going to find yourself treading water, so to speak. When you do an abdominal exercise, you are toning the muscles in your stomach, but where ab exercises target the muscle they don't actually target the fat in that area. Diet along with ab exercise will get that area into shape. There is just no way around it. However, when that fat does come off, your stomach is going to look great if you keep up with the exercise.
The Number One Abdominal Exercise
Thinking of getting an ab machine to get those abdominals into shape? Consumer Reports tested a number of infomercial equipment that promises to give you 6-pack abs in 14 days. After having tested these machines, they suggest to the consumer to save their money, there are none worth considering. The best results are found in the simple abdominal exercise known as the crunch. For those that want a more rigorous workout, do the crunches on an exercise ball.
The belly crunch abdominal exercise involves lying flat on your back with your knees raised and you feet planted firmly on the ground. Place your hands behind your head and lift the head and shoulders a few inches off the ground. Hold that position for a few seconds and go back down. Repeat this for a number of times. Deep breathing can be added to the abdominal exercise by inhaling and exhaling as you rise and fall. There are many variations that can be done with this basic exercise, such as reaching your arms out in front of you between your knees as you rise. If you alternate one arm than the next over your stomach as if you are climbing a rope you will work the abdominal muscles that are higher. Repeating these simple moves in the morning and evening will help to warm your back muscles as you prepare for work or sleep.
Consider crunches for your primary abdominal exercise. You can find a great abdominal exercise workout routine by searching online. There are tons of them that you can do, just make sure you are doing them correctly so you don't injure your back.
